When to refer

Late-diagnosed ADHD (adult women)

Diagnosis made but still not coping

Refer when:
• post-diagnostic grief, shame, or identity disruption
• persistent burnout or masking exhaustion
• executive dysfunction affecting work or home functioning
• repeated workplace stress or underperformance despite insight

Clinical focus:
Identity integration, burnout recovery, executive-function strategies, and nervous-system regulation.

Panic & social anxiety


Avoidance + workplace disengagement

Refer when:
• increasing avoidance of work/study
• frequent medical certificates or absenteeism
• panic symptoms not responding to basic CBT
• social withdrawal following life changes

Clinical focus:
Behavioural activation, graded exposure, and physiological regulation to restore functional capacity.

Trauma-driven anxiety (EMDR)

Longstanding anxiety resistant to therapy

Refer when:
• chronic hypervigilance
• relational or developmental trauma history
• somatic/“body-based” anxiety
• repeated therapy attempts with limited improvement

Clinical focus:
EMDR and trauma-informed stabilisation targeting underlying nervous system dysregulation.

Suitable for

Adults with recently diagnosed ADHD, anxiety disorders, and trauma-related presentations

Not suitable for

• acute crisis or immediate risk
• chronic health conditions
• primary ADHD diagnostic assessments
• children/adolescents
• eating disorders

How to refer

What to include:

  • Mental Health Care Plan

  • Referral letter including:

    • Patient name, date of birth, and contact details

    • Presenting concerns, diagnosis, or reason for referral

    • Current medications and relevant medical history

    • Number of sessions requested (up to 6 for initial referral)

    • GP provider number and signature
